A sunscreen is a must-have product during every summer. It fulfils two tasks – it replaces a regular body cream and delivers intensified protection against damaging influence of solar radiation. Sadly enough, this life-saving product won’t fulfil its mission if used in one of the below-mentioned way.
Sun protection is very important because UV radiation can cause harm not only to skin tissue but also to the entire human organism. It’s worth reaching for sun protection filters, natural oils absorbing or bounding the radiation off, or cosmetics that contain substances which create a kind of shield on our body. However, you have to do it wisely.
Here is top 5 frequent mistakes made while applying a sunscreen!
#1 MISTAKE | APPLYING A SUNSCREEN AT THE BEACH
Many women pack a sunscreen into their bags, go to the beach and after finding the right spot and body position on a towel, they ask their husbands to help them with coating the back with the cosmetic. This is a huge mistake because during their way to the beach the sun affects the skin equally significantly. Sunscreens should be applied before leaving home.
#2 MISTAKE | INSUFFICIENT SPF (SUN PROTECTION FILTER)
This defined by a number factor is an important indicator that should be taken into consideration while choosing a sunscreen. We frequently forget about this and pick up a cosmetic blindly. The greater the insolation is, the higher SPF should be used. Moreover, a different product should be applied when being exposed to the sun at the noon, and other while taking a stroll in a park in the afternoon.
#3 MISTAKE | USING TOO SMALL QUANTITY OF THE PRODUCT
We shouldn’t save up money on skin protection. The rule is simple: when there is too little cosmetic applied, it can’t provide the comprehensive protection. You have to shield the entire body (even feet) by distributing a cosmetic all over your body. It can’t be denied, sunscreens aren’t expensive therefore minimising its consumption simply doesn’t pay off.
#4 MISTAKE | USING A COSMETIC WHICH BEST-BEFORE DATE HAS EXPIRED
This best-before date isn’t placed on the packaging by accident. There is a defined period of time when filter preserves its features. For that reason, it’s not worth using a sunscreen we bought last summer because, even if it doesn’t cause irritations, it will be ineffective. In other words, an expired sunscreen including SPF 25 will provide protection that can be compared to SPF 10, or even zero.
#5 MISTAKE | RESIGNING FROM A SUNSCEEN BY DARK COMPLEXION OWNERS
It’s time to shatter this myth once and for all. Repeating the conviction that only fair skin needs protection against the sun, won’t ever make it true. Indeed, pale skin contains less pigment, which works as a natural barrier against the sun, but darker skin doesn’t have it in such an amount that the pigment could replace a decent filter. In the summer, solar radiation is so high that UV filter is a must and has to be worn by all skin types.
