Eggs aren’t only a constituent of many dishes but also they can be used as a natural beauty product to treat hair with. The beneficial action is delivered by both yolk and white. Eggs contain lecithin and proteins that strengthen and moisturise hair. Proteins prevent brittle hair and boost hair volume. When it comes to yolk, it’s a natural emulsifier which bonds mask constituents and in consequence is responsible for the smooth consistency of a homemade product. Moreover, yolk contains sulphur which relieves symptoms of dandruff. Regular application of egg to hair – no matter if the entire egg, or added to either DIY mask or used as an addition to a shampoo – leaves hair shiny, soft and smoothed out.
How to apply eggs to hair?
As mentioned above, eggs can be put on hair or combined with other cosmetics – ready or homemade. Two eggs should be enough to cover the entire hair length, unless the hair is really long. Whisk eggs and apply them to dry and combed hair. After 30 minutes the eggs have to be rinsed. Wash the hair normally and, if necessary, apply a light conditioner.
Egg mask for accelerated hair growth – Recipe

- 2 eggs,

Preparation:

Wash your hair normally (with a cleansing shampoo) and apply the egg mask. Once your hair is covered with your DIY mask, put on either a bath cap or a foil cap and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Then, rinse hair with cool water and apply your favourite conditioner. After a few minutes wash the hair with a shampoo and leave it to get air-dried.
Egg mask for damaged hair – Recipe
Eggs contains huge quantities of proteins, sulphur and biotin which improve hair state. What’s interesting, they aren’t normally added to readymade hair care products due to their short-lived lifespan. Luckily, they can be successfully used at home, right after preparing a homemade cosmetic.
Ingredients:
- 1 egg,
- 1 tbsp. olive oil,
- 1/2 tbsp. honey,
- 1/2 ripe avocado,
- 2 tbsp. natural yoghurt.
Preparation:
Peel avocado, remove the seed and mash it with a fork. Place all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix thoroughly. If the hair mask appears to be too dense, you can add 1-2 spoons of water. Before applying the mask, wash the hair with a shampoo and towel dry. After coating hair with the mask, put on a bath cap and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Then, wash hair with cool water and a shampoo. You can follow with a leave-in conditioner.
Egg mask for dry hair – Recipe
To replenish hair with water, eggs can be applied to dry and damp hair – always by rubbing eggs into the strands for a few minutes. In this way, hair is also softened and becomes shiny. It’s a good idea to mix eggs with milk which displays cleansing and softening properties as well as a banana which effectively moisturises and smells wonderful.
Ingredients:
- 1-2 eggs,
- 1 ripe banana,
- 1/2 glass of milk.
Preparation:
Either use a fork or blender to mash banana. Then, add the remaining ingredients to mix them in a bowl. Now you can apply the mask to either dry and combed or damp and washed hair. Put on a bath cap or wrap the head with a warm towel. Rinse the mask after 15-20 minutes and wash hair with cool water thoroughly. In order to make hair perfectly clean, rewash it using a shampoo. You can follow with a conditioner. Let the hair air dry.
